What are we actually dealing with?
A roof might have patches of moss, staining, leaves or a combination of them. Explain what you’ve noticed and ask what information the cleaner needs to understand the job.
Photos can help with that conversation. Ask which parts of the roof the quote covers, especially if one side looks very different from another.
How will you clean it?
Ask the company to walk you through the proposed method. What equipment will be used? How will they deal with the moss? What makes that approach suitable for your roof?

Our published moss-removal process starts with removal by hand, working down the slope. Treatment follows; it's not a brush-only service. We don't pressure wash the roof.
The bulk of the moss removal and the gradual breakdown of remaining treated growth are different parts of the process. Ask what you'll see on the day and what may change afterward.

What is—and isn't—in the price?
Two quotes can use the same words and still describe different jobs. Check the roof areas included, how job debris is handled and whether anything you've discussed would be an extra.
Shine's published roof moss-removal standard includes:
- Hand removal of moss followed by treatment
- Gutter cleaning and downspout clearing
- Clearing moss and job debris from around the property
We discuss your roof and scope before booking. If a roof isn't safe for the crew to walk, we don't push ahead with this service.
If a guarantee is offered, read its terms—what it covers matters more than the word itself.

The job also involves getting onto the roof, moving equipment and working around the property below. Tell the cleaner about access restrictions, gates, garden areas or anything else they should know.
